Show your support for Mission "Made In USA", by expressing the importance of supporting American manufacturers and food producers to friends and family. As Americans we have enjoyed the low cost of foreign made goods in this country for the last decade without seeing or understanding the long term effects outsourcing manufacturing jobs was having on our economy. The average American was blinded by inexpensive material items, while corporate management and CEO's were blinded by extreme profits and bonuses attributed to outsourcing America's jobs.
The steady increase in outsourcing of manufacturing has turned our country into nothing more than a service sector. Our economy cannot survive without a manufacturing sector built into the economic model. We must start to physically produce and manufacture products here in the United States again. We need to understand this is vital to our security as a nation. If we had retained half of the manufacturing jobs we lost in the last decade to outsourcing, our current financial crisis would not be so extreme. Manufacturing and service sector jobs go hand in hand in any successful economy as history has shown. They support and compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses which results in a healthy balanced job sector that can support itself when one or the other has sectors in a down turn environment.
You ask then, OK what can I do? Most people say, "I could not purchase all American made products, even if I could find them because of current availability and cost issues!" Measures that extreme are not needed, nor are they required. We do not want to stop free trade. Simply, we need to bring the trade balance in line with our trading partners. This can be accomplished by a simple change in our spending habits. An act of government is not needed to achieve this. We the people of this United States control the trade balance by what we purchase! Companies will adapt to what we want to purchase, not just what they offer us. We dictate product demand. This eliminates the alienation factor some fear would come from other countries if buy American is dictated by our government.
As of the 1997 census report, the United States has over 300,000,000 citizens.
With the average American family spending over 85% of their consumable product
income on foreign made products. With spending levels that high on foreign goods, its no surprise our economy is in a downturn with extreme job losses and a mounting trade deficit. If every American shifted just $25 a month of their consumable product income to products made in the USA, approximately 5-6 million new jobs could be created here in the United States! Imagine what could be done if households that can afford it spent more than that on American made products.
So as you can see, just by making small changes in our spending habits, purchasing American made
products when and where we can, would greatly help our economic recovery process. The
time has come for all Americans to act now! As Americans, our
patriotic duty to protect and defend our country does not stop at serving for war and security
reasons. It also means to protect and defend our economy by all means
possible.
We must work together! Greed for higher corporate profits by way of cheap overseas labor has drained our economy enough. Outsourcing was a profitable ride for some on Wall Street but was not in the best interest of working Americans and their families on Main Street. Remember every dollar you spend on products not made in the USA helps to support and
strengthen another country's economy and job market.
The now common mentality of every man for himself (divide and rule) needs to be changed and replaced with the forgotten Patriotism of our founding fathers. We need to inspire in others the same philosophy that this great nation was founded on. Let us not forget:
John Dickinson in 1768,
"Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall!"
And John F. Kennedy,
?And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country?
Thank you for taking the time to review this information - We hope you will join the efford any way you can.
